Each week we want to pass on some of the little things that have inspired us on social media, things we've read or listened to, things we've learnt and moments that impacted us and the things we are most grateful for during that week. These are our Friday Favourites:
1. What I am watching ...
Over the last year I've been stumbling across Stoicism a lot from Ryan Holidays books "Ego is the Enemy," "The Obstacle is the Way" and "The Daily Stoic", as well as Marcus Aurelius' "Meditations". This week I came across this great "TED-Ed" animation which gives a quick overview about Stoicism and its origins. With the ups and downs life throws at you I think stoicism can help give us strength to battle through.
2. My I'm reading ...
I'd never have thought that washing dishes could be such a pleasurable activity until I read this book. In this beautifully written book, Buddhist monk and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Thich Nhat Hanh guides you through the practice of mindfulness. Thich Nhat Hanh's beautiful stories and practical advice provide a better understanding of how to become more mindful and in turn connected to world and peaceful.
3. What I liked on social ...
I know its dangerous to share political views but this video from Texan Democrat nominee Beto O' Rourke was so inspirational. A great response to a challenging question!
4. What I am reflecting on ..
I love this quote! I think our biggest enemy and our biggest saboteur is ourselves. Which also means we can our biggest saviour too.
5. What I am most grateful for ...
Being the eldest sibling 👶🏼👧🏻 must be a tough gig at times 😓! For all those years you were the main attraction 🌟, then one day this ball of fury bursts into the world with a bang 💥. Without volunteering you’ve become an overnight icon and role model, whose every move is copied and repeated. You are now a target for this new addition who wants to challenge you for the top job 👼. And as a parent, well all you want is for them to get on, love each other, and look out for each other. 🤞 ahhh siblings ... 😊
That's it for this weeks Friday Favourites, if you have a favourite, what you are most grateful for this week or any feedback please share with me on our Twitter or Facebook feed.
