Friday Favourites

Updated: Mar 1, 2019

Each week we want to pass on some of the little things that have inspired us on social media, things we've read or listened to, things we've learnt and moments that impacted us and the things we are most grateful for during that week. These are our Friday Favourites:

1. What I am watching ...

I'm a big fan or Michael Gervais! Michael Gervais is an American psychologist who has worked with some of America's top athletes, as well helping Felix Baumgartner (the guy who jumped to earth from space) get in his suit. In this YouTube video you get to hear about some of the practices he takes people through to perform at a high level. If you are interested on how to gain more control of your mind this is worth a watch.

2. Websites I've enjoyed ...

I found these top tips on building resilience on the parentni.org website. Although these tips focus specifically on parenting there are still some nuggets which I think we can all apply to help us build that "bounce backability" muscle.

3. What I liked on social ...

This makes me chuckle every time. I know I've faced that dreaded moment when there is no room for your bag, so what do you do ...?

4. What I am reflecting on ..

There are times on this journey when I've felt like stopping, but I always try to keep going no matter how slowly.

5. What I am learning about being a parent ...

So we have just got through 🙏 another phase 🧛‍♀️ with our youngest, that to be honest caught both our girls. I’ll admit the first time around it was pretty distressing to find out that our child 👶🏼 took more of a fancy to another child’s arm rather than their banana 🍌. We searched deep insider trying to understand how we had created a cannibal. What did we do wrong? Where could we go for help? But alas with most things in parenting it was just a phase! 🎉 The bite marks the children had at the child minders, the chunks taken out of mummy’s neck, the blood drawn from my leg whilst out for a peaceful meal in the sun, the fingers latched onto whilst disagreeing with her sister, it was just another step on this bonkers path of growing up. The more experience I’m getting with this parenting lark the more I understand, most things are just a phase, or an expression of frustration, as they are just trying to work it all out. Then I think 🤔 that doesn’t change when you’re an adult, except no biting (I hope 🤞). Finally in tough times I am often given pearls of wisdom from my eldest (she’s 4 💡), who came up with a simple but effective solution. “Daddy, if Olive goes to bite someone just give her some food”. Why didn’t I think of that! 😂🤦‍♂️❤️

That's it for this weeks Friday Favourites, if you have a favourite, what you are most grateful for this week or any feedback please share with me on our Twitter or Facebook feed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read, until next time #fridayfavourites
