Each week we want to pass on some of the little things that have inspired us on social media, things we've read or listened to, things we've learnt and moments that impacted us and the things we are most grateful for during that week. These are our Friday Favourites:
1. What I am watching ...
How can we become more empathetic to help ease someone's pain and suffering? In this beautifully animated RSA Short, Dr Brené Brown shares what empathy is, and is not. And reminds us that in order to be more empathetic we have to embrace our own vulnerabilities.
2. What I'm reading ...
Why do I keep buying coffee at the station - and even delay my journey sometimes so I have time to spare at the station to buy one? Why to do I find it so hard to make lunch the next day if I sit down too early each evening? Why do I reach for the flap jack instead of an orange? I know hardly world scale problems, but this book has started to help me understand why. Habit Loop: Cue ➡️ Routine ➡️ Reward = Craving. Great read now I just need to form a habit to implement some of it 😩
3. What I liked on social ...
So I discovered these great illustrations on Instagram this week from Journey_to_wellness_ They have so many topics from resilience skills, to managing emotions, to dealing with anxiety, with real pragmatic actions you can take.
4. What I am reflecting on ..
I sometimes think that in our search for happiness or contentness we think that means everything will be great all of the time 🌈 🦄. I’m beginning to learn though that the way we deal with the set backs is as important as soaking up the good times, and is an essential part of the journey. It helps to know that anything worth having never came without some struggle.
5. Who I'm following ...
"Keep it simple, keep it kind". This page was recommended to me in the comments section of our Friday Favourites on Facebook the other week. Lots of positive ideas on acts of kindness. Thanks for sharing Stella!
