Each week I want to pass on some of the little things that have inspired me on social media, things I've read or listened to, things I've learnt, moments that impacted me and the things I am most grateful for during the last week. These are my Friday Favourites:
1. What I watched ..
I've recently been looking into mental health in the workplace and cam across this animation called "I Had a Black Dog, His Name Was Depression". it was such a powerful story that not only educates bu also helps to guide those how may have their own "Black Dog".
2. What I read ...
"How to Foster Little Moments of Gratitude with Your Kids." I thought this was quite appropriate with "Thanks Giving". I great article from "The Greater Good Magazine" by Berkeley.
3. What I learnt ...
Finding what you stand for is such an important part of living a more meaningful and happy life. The VIA Institute on Character is a simple self assessment tool that helps you to understand your core strengths. It was Created under the direction of Dr. Martin Seligman, the "father of Positive Psychology". It's a great insight in to what to focus on for your own personal journey or fulfilment.
4. What I am reflecting on ..
I think I’ve fallen more times than I can remember, times I've wanted to just give up and throw the towel in. But, these are the moments that when you get to the other side you learn most about yourself and create momentum towards a more meaningful life, on your terms. In the words of “Elton John”, I’m Still Standing!
5. What I am practising ...
“Mindful Moments” - This week’s “Mindful Moment” is a loving kindness practice. Start with yourself, or someone close like I family member by generating a feeling of love and kindness, then extend it to someone that frustrates you.
That's it for this weeks Friday Favourites, if you have something you want to share, or any feedback on these favourites you can leave a comment on my Facebook page or follow me on Instagram.
