Friday Favourites


Each week I want to pass on some of the little things that have inspired me on social media, things I've read or listened to, things I've learnt, moments that impacted me and the things I am most grateful for during the last week. These are my Friday Favourites:

1. What I watched ...

"If you win the morning, you win the day". I've been playing around with my morning routine for a while now, so it was really interesting to hear Tim Ferris' take on this. Tim Ferris has interviewed hundred of top performers and has created this short video on some of the tips he has learnt.

2. What I read ...

Do you want to know 7 responses to avoid to be more empathetic? Well this article is for you. The embarrassing thing about this article is that I've actually fallen into these traps and still do at times. Not because I don't care but because its actually really hard to sit and be empathetic with somoen when they are suffering.


3. What I am trying ...

This months calendar from Action for Happiness is a mindfulness one, so if you want some daily prompts to help build that mindfulness muscle check it out.

4. Who I'm interested in ...

Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. is a scientist, writer, and meditation teacher. Dr Kabat-Zinn’s pioneering research focused on mind/body interactions for healing and on the clinical applications of mindfulness meditation for people managing chronic pain and stress-related disorders. His work has won numerous awards and contributed to a growing movement of mindfulness into mainstream institutions such as medicine, and psychology, health care, schools, corporations, prisons, and professional sports. He is the author of Full Catastrophe Living, Coming to Our Senses and Wherever You Go, There You Are.


5. What I am practising ...

One of the most basic and widely used methods for cultivating mindfulness is to focus your attention on each of your senses as you eat a raisin. This simple exercise is often used as an introduction to the practice of mindfulness. In addition to increasing mindfulness more generally, the raisin meditation can promote mindful eating and foster a healthier relationship with food. Try it with a single raisin—you might find that it’s the most delicious raisin you’ve ever eaten.
